Life in the mousehole

Life here goes pretty fast, considering the pace of life is about as slow as it gets. Lottie starts every morning by feeding a menagerie of birds including, hens, doves, geese and guinea fowl (delicious but the strangest of all creatures - looks like a self propelled boulder, but a bit more stupid). I walk the land and irrigate crops, trees and flower gardens, generally trying to look busy poking around with a stick.
The rest of the day is spent tree felling, clearing land and on one of our first projects which is building a goose house and pond. We are leaner and fitter than we have probably been for some time (ie its bloody hard work!) but Kath and Andy make up for all this by being the most hospitible hosts. Our first weekend was spent at Zagra´s annual fiesta, which consisted of drinking and children throwing fireworks at each other - with a background sound track of live Euro pop!

On our first weekend off we visited Priego de Cordoba, our nearest sign of western civilisation (ie prada sunglasses). We had lunch in the stunning Arab quarter - a maze of tiny streets and the jeep had a slight altercation with a railing (dont worry Nathan the railing came off worse!).
Otherwise life here is pretty slow and we dont have much to report other than we are enjoying working hard and spending time together, learning new skills, having siestas and eating and drinking well.
