Djerba - General
From Easter 2007 - Family Holiday in Djerba, Tunisia on Apr 15 '07
Overall a great relaxing family holiday. The point of this was not to explore and discover, but to chill out in a sunny location and to give the folks minimum workload. This was a pretty big success, certainly better than Marbella in Spain last year.
I'd recommend Djerba for anyone who wants to just go to a huge, expensive, luxurious hotel and spend a week doing nothing and chilling out. Other than the hotel there's not much to do in the area, if you want a low-budget or more authentic travel you'd best stick to Tunisian mainland! If you really do want to explore outside the hotel, bike/quad/camel/horse rides are available. The surrounding villages are quite nice but many landscapes are spoiled by abandoned construction sites. Try going to the Rose Island for nicer nature scenes.

Most locals will speak French, English speakers are harder to find outside the hotel.
