Our Last Day in Paris

Our final day in Paris. What an amazing experience that we will remember forever. Today it is raining heavily, but we are still going to venture out to the Rodin Museum. It is known for the beautiful gardens that are just made for a picnic, but today we will have to admire them from inside the museum. Yesterday, was our trip to the top of the Eiffel Tour. It opens at 9:00 a.m. and we arrived at 9:30. By then there were at least 150 people in line ahead of us. There are only two elevators that go to the top. What they don’t tell the tourists is this: First you wait in line to get a ticket, then you wait in line to get on the elevator, then at the 2nd floor you get out of the elevator, and wait in line for the 2nd elevator. When you get to the top it is very crowded and the view is great, but you are so high that it is hard to distinguish many landmarks. After that you then wait in line again to go down, get off on the 2nd floor, wait in line again to go to the bottom. I guess it is one of those experiences that you want to do only one time. From beginning to end it is a 3 hour process, at the minimum. When we got off the elevator there were at least 500 people in line. Crazy!!! I guess we cannot complain too much because that is the only line that we had to wait in for our entire trip.!!

After the Eiffel Tower we were exhausted so we came back to the apartment for a nap. We woke up, went to Monoprix for some food, unloaded, and walked to the Place de Vosges. It is the first park built in Paris and only a few blocks from our apartment. It is a perfect square and all of the houses are exactly the same, which at that time, was a new concept. Everything in the park is symmetrical too, such as the fountains, grass, trees, paths, etc. We sat on a bench and ate nectarines. Everybody was out and enjoying the sun. because it was the first non-rainy day in a few weeks.

The Rodin museum was beautiful The actual museum is in the house that Rodin lived in while in Paris. He was a collector of Asian art so that was on display also. We always rent the audio guide that explains the background on the different pieces.

Today our flight leaves at 12:55 p.m. We are looking forward to seeing the furry babies, we miss them. My house sitter had to take Smokey to the vet for neck pain. But he seems fine today.

Thank you to everyone for your comments on the website. Each day we enjoyed reading them. Now back to reality!!! Bummer!!!

Becky and Madeline - we enjoyed and looked forward to your blog updates so we could know what the two of you had done and seen. I would suggest you submit articles to a travel magazine or newspaper. You did a really great job at talking about your locations and experiences. Welcome home Bill and Barb

Ditto what he said. Thought this might be appropriate: So long ago, Another life I could feel your heart beat It's not a dream, remember us I can see it in your eyes We'll find a place in time A place in time beyond the sun We'll find a place in time A place in time to call our home OK, anybody know where this is from?
