Friday, 29 June

We work up to turn on the news and find out that in Piccadilly Circus (in the street where we visited yesterday) there was a car b omb found (the car contained gasoline tanks, nails & petrol) and the police defused the bomb and will be investigating the matter... A little unnerving really... Luckily we did the sightseeing of that area yesterday as opposed to today.   Later on, on Saturday it was found out that that there were actually two car bom bs that were found.

135 metres above London giving us a 25 mile radius view of London

After a rainy start to the day, we headed into town to do more sightseeing.

At 11.30am we saw the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace which was quite fascinating. there  were plenty of guards on foot, guards on horses, policeman on horses, a full marching band with all the bells & whistles.

After this, we ran through the rain to the big clocktower ("Big Ben") then hotfooted it over to the London Eye on the other side of the River Thames. Fortunately the rain eased and the skies cleared and we got on the London Eye, the largest Ferris Wheel in the world which goes 135 mtrs above London giving us a 25 mile radius view of London and the outskirts of town. VERY IMPRESSIVE!

Saturday, 30 June

Woke up to more rain & cloudy skies, so we took the opportunity to relax and hang around Chiswick, which was well deserved after the past two days of almost non-stop walking.
