This is the train that would shuttle us to Amsterdam. It was very different from other trains I had been on but was a lot of fun. You can see our beers in this picture.

We starte our trip on Wednesday night. Our train picked us up at 9pm and it began. We all brought some beer onto the train because we knew we had 12 hours of tough travel in front of us. We tried to go cheap on this trip so we bought tickets in "resting armchairs". Well, let's just say the sleep wasn't as nice as they train company would have you believe. I'm getting ahead of myself. We first had to finish a bunch of beer and be as obnoxious as possible. Ok well, we weren't really obnoxious but there was this one Swiss kid on the train and he was probably 16 and determined to stir up as much trouble as possible. He went up the train and found other young adults and we had a very mini party in one of the bike/baggage cars. Well, this clearly wasn't allowed and the Swiss kid definitily wasn't subtle about arranging the "party". Oh well, we decided to check it out anyway and we ran into 2 Americans Clint and I forget the other guy's name so I'll call him Phil. We hung out in the baggage car chatting with Clint and Phil for a while, they were at the tail end of their three month backpacking extravaganza around Europe. They were nice guys. Clint was a lot of fun but Phil seemed very uptight, very typical American. Oh well, eventually security came and split up our little get-together in the baggage car. Sw we went back to our seats and decided to pack it in for the night. I didn't sleep very much the night before we left so I was out like a light. Apparently the Swiss kid tried to get in a fight with some guy and then the security people showed up and kicked the kid off at the next stop. Oh well, Swiss kids can't handle their liquor. I slept most of the way to Amsterdam quite well, as well as can be expected sitting in a chair. I woke up a few times because my shoulder was bothering me and my legs were cramping up a bit but I had sunglasses on and some soft music playing to block out the world and for the most part it worked well. When I woke up we were an hour or so out of Amsterdam and I was getting excited.
