Wonderful night on the dark side

(nicks story). It was good to go back to Marina Del Rey for a day and night.  Ronnie and I made a stop at Natalies Thai restaurant and had our usual, pad thai and jade curry, food that we had dreamed about for the past nine months.  It was as good as ever and we stuffed it all down while watching Planet Earth on Yuppie Kevins HD tv.  Life was good!

Life got even better when later that night Kevin and I went back to the Dark Side (the beach at Venice) and a had a few drinks.  It was good to see that Kevin has become a drinking lightweight (like me) after 1 year of fatherhood!! It was even better to have time to catch up on each others lives.  I had forgotten my ID and my youthful good looks caused the odd problem getting in to places, but in the end we made it to 4 bars and eventually found one suitable for us '40 something' crowd, where we could sit and talk with no music and noise.  It was great for me to talk to someone who understands the beauties and hardships of travel and noone understands it better than Kevin.  I was also pleased that my 'thoughtful' gift had arrived to him from Morocco and equally pleased that he wasn't wearing them!  We managed to fit a lot of catching up into the too few hours we had at the dark side.   I managed to stay reasonably awake until midnight and fought off the jet lag and travel fatigue until we got back to the apartment.....then I enjoyed 4 wonderful hours of sleep before heading off to the airport and the flight to Boston....another city, another bed!
