A final week in North Queensland...

The final week of my 3 month Australia trip was going to be spent revisiting some of North Queensland. I decided to spend it up there as my previous trip up there had been a bit of a wash out! In particular I was keen to go back to the Whitsundays and get to Whitehaven Beach as due the atrocious weather we couldn't even get near it on my previous sailing trip! As I was short on time I decided to go to Airlie Beach for a couple of days and just to do a day trip from there. I flew up to Prosperine on cheap Jetstar flight from Sydney which was bit of bargain at only about 100 Aussie Dollars. I decided to do the Ocean Rafting trip which turned out to be a good choice as its a fast boat you get out there very quickly and have plenty of time out there to make the most of the day. When we started out the weather looked very dodgy and started to rain...had braced myself for a repeat of my last visit but thankfully the weather improved as the day went on and it turned out to be quite a nice day! The day trip included a hike, some snorkelling, time to chill out on Whitehaven Beach and lunch! It was a really fun day out and was very glad that finally made it back to the Whitsundays and saw it without the torrential rain! In the evening went out in Airlie with Mark and Greg and a few of their friends which was pretty good fun. The next day Greg volunteered to be my tour guide and take me out to a few places around Airlie which you needed a car for, like Cedar Creek Falls which is a great spot.

The following day I headed off on the Greyhound bus to Townsville where went to stay with Mia and Paul again. Stayed with them 2 nights and was nice to have a few days to chill out there and watch dvds etc ! Also made good use of the pool there! Was really nice seeing them again and nice to be back in Townsville but was exceedingly hot this time around! Unfortunately picked up a bit of a cold and throat infection so wasn't feeling too well when headed up to Cairns. That was a bit of a shame as didnt get to do some of the things had planned to like White Water Rafting. There is always next time and to be honest couldn't complain at all as had a fab time in Oz in the 3 months I'd been there and managed to see and do so much. Hopefully will make it back there before too long and check out some of the other places like WA and Tasmania that didn't make it to this time around.
