We went to Santiago with no expectations. The drive over the Andes was great. I was tempted to read my book, but I had a flash back of my friend dana when we were driving over the Swiss Alps last year. ¨Linda put down that book we are driving in the freaking Swiss Alps for crying out loud!¨ So i listened to some musica and observed. Cold up there but beautiful.
There isn´t too much to Santiago. Its another city. There are some neat things to see like Cerro Santa Lucia. From the top there is a great view of the buildings. If there wasn´t so much smog....i bet the Andes in the background would look great too! We also took a cart and cable car up to Cerro San Cristobal. It was worth it to watch Rach grip the handrail for dear life. She´s getting better but not enough to find my jokes about opening the door to take a better picture very funny. The Museo de Arte Pre-Colombino is neat. Lots of funky pottery and sculptures.
Good ol fun!
A highlight of the city was meeting up with my old friend, Augusto, from my exchange program in Australia. He demonstrated first hand how much work people have to do in Chile to be successful. Don´t know where he found the energy to hang out with us at night after hours and hours of work, but i´m glad he did. Its always nice to have someone familiar with the area show you around.
Two restaurants i must recommend to anyone going to Santiago. Amazing place to get sushi next door to La Casa Roja (2113 Augustinas) Trust me. Second place...Peluqueria de Frances. Awesome bar lounge place. Just go. Again sorry for the lack of pictures. There was a good one of me and the smog too! haha well we are probably venturing back to Santiago for a day enroute to San Pedro. Maybe i´ll find my camera! Doubt it but a girl can only hope. Later days.
