This morning I woke up at 930 to get out of the Levir hostel by the 1000 checkout time.  I do feel tons better today than last night.  Whatever drugs the doctor prescribed for me seemed to work over night.  Today is a take-it-easy day anyway since the train doesn't leave until 1407.  I drank a ton of water in the morning and then ate the only thing I could crave: McDonald's.  How sad.  But I think I felt the need for an American taste again to wipe the tinge of previous day's food.

You know you're an American when after getting food poisoning and not being able to eat for a day, your stomach does manage to hold down McDonald's.

I hung out at the train station for the most part of the early day.  I hopped on the train and 15 minutes later found out that I was on the wrong coach.  At first, I thought she was trying to say that I was on the wrong train, but luckily I just had to move a few coaches up!  That was scary.

The car I sat in had another American who was born and raised in Redlands, where Zack's from.  Jeremy and I chatted all along the ride.  He is a software engineer for Google, and was working in Zurich on a project for them.  Anyway, turns out we havea lot in common and on Wednesday, we're going to try to meet up and head out to Zackopane, a outdoors-y district just south of Krakow.

I got off the train and instead of asking for directions to my hostel, I grabbed a flyer with a map on it and started walking.  I took the wrong exit out of the station so I was heading east, the wrong direction, for 15 minutes, before giving up and going the other direction.  Found the hostel on the 2nd try, woo hoo!

Great location, free internet connection, nice facilities = Atlantis Hostel.  I ate dinner at some pizza restaurant nearby.  I had a pizza with olives, chicken, sausage, peppers, and pickles.  It was...interesting.  I forgot that the doctor said no dairy...oops.  I will now head out and buy a bottle of water because I'm pretty thirsty and the tapwater here is no good to drink, says reception desk.

Tomorrow's plan: walk throughout old town and see all of the touristy things, including Schindler's factory.  Wednesday: Zakopane.  Thursday: Auschwitz-Birkenau.  Cheers all!

I am sooooo glad that you're feeling better and seem to be in a good mood. I think our systems need to build up an immunity to germs in a new environment ... luckily you're pretty healthy and can recover quickly!

Hey cousin Michael!!! Glad to hear you are feeling better and found some McDonald's (very easy to do no matter where you are :). And I got really excited when you said you found your hostel on the second try, I spent many a hours lost looking for hostels when I was traveling last year ;).
