Bohol: Loboc River & Cebu: Mactan Island

Emerged from the 'jungle' at 5.30am, via boat, taxi, ferry, jeepney and backpacker's slump through dodgy downtown Cebu. It's 9am and have just had friiieeed chicken, aw yeah.

Nuts Huts was fantastic. Sinatra over breakfast, Ray Charles for lunch and Latin rhythms for dinner. SO good to have a soundtrack that doesn't involve an out-of-tune Filippino/a singing The Power of Love to a videoke machine.

From the Nuts Huts to the mutt's nuts

It was a real drop-out place and the best thing was you could actually swim and dive off the jetty into the cool jade-coloured Loboc river - no crocs or anaconda - just a few tiddlers. In the past three days, we've climbed a vertical wall of green (okay so it was a hill but I'm getting on a bit), dipped our hands in bat crap balancing our way through a bat cave, got up close in an eco-friendly way with cute little tarsiers, floated through a butterfly sanctuary and then diced with death on the back of a motorbike up the Chocolate Hills. Tasty.

And now we have emerged into the bright lights for our one-night only, five-star splurge at Plantation Bay, http://plantationbay.com/- where we can avail ourselves of archery and golf and our own private lagoon. Oh and a firing range where you can choose your armour, from a shotgun to a Colt 45, a Gloch 9mm to a chunky Magnum revolver. Bullets are a bit pricey, though we have found relief at the poolside bar in the form of frozen margaritas and martinis. It's kind of like Las Vegas, sasy peter, except with Koreans. Also, being canny shoppers me and the PDF have arrived well before check-in and intend to stay long after check-out before catching our respective planes onwards on Monday... when it'll be farewell from Peter and hello Kuala Lumpur for moi.

Not sure where heading next. It'll be a surprise. Even to me! xxx

It all sounds heavenly! Especially the bat crap. Sitting in this 70s hole listening to a load of 17 years olds gossip about lord knows what. I need a holiday. Hope KL treats you well. xxxx
