Just returned from the Fuentes Georginas which was absolutely fabulous - it is a bit cold here in the mornings - and today happens to be the day we can bring our laundry to the school for someone to take to the local clothes-washing place - so all of my clothes excepting one pair of shorts and a tank top are there - so the ride up to the Fuentes was freezing and it made it all the more wonderful to GET IN!  Since the air was cold outside there was plenty of steam from the water, just like a hot tub on a cold morning.  We got to swim around there for a little over an hour - in places the rocks were REALLY hot, and there were pockets of really hot water as well.  The drive up there in the back of a piccop was beautiful - we drove WAY up into the mountains where the Mayan people have the small plots of land on steep hillsides that I referenced a couple of days ago.  This time I got to see them up close.  I have pictures but again need to upload them.  One problem is I am not supposed to be moving any of the computers which is what I would need to do to plug in my camera.

Also a bit of a change in my itinerary.  Instead of the trip to Tilapita on the Pacific this weekend I´m going to stay around here for a bit.  Saturday the school is taking a trip to an ex-guerilla camp up in the mountains - very exciting.  It will definitely be a hike up there and a chance to hear about some of the experiences the combatants experienced during the 30-something year war.  I figured I´d get to the beach in Honduras and probably only have 1 opportunity in my life to see an ex-guerila camp.  Then Sunday I will try to take a shuttle or if not available, a chicken bus from Xela to San Pedro over on Lago de Atitlan.  In some ways the week is flying by and at the same time it is unbelievable I have 5 more weeks from today until my departure!

Thanks to Leigh I now have the official recipe for fried green tomatoes for the dinner Friday night where all the students need to cook something from their country.  I figured what is more southern (that I could make here) than fried green tomatoes??  And they´re fabulous too, so that is exciting.  For the dinner we are also supposed to read a poem or dance or something, so I´m opting for translating the poem "Guest House" by Rumi.  Richard gave it to me last year some time and it has been a really important reflection for me - so why not learn it in Spanish?¿?¿

And if anyone wants to read up on the school I´m at this week it´s

Hi Beck, Glad everything seems to be going well. Just wondering if you are going to be able to take pictures at the gorilla camp tomorrow. Hopefully you will be able to post some pictures soon. Love, MOM
