Good Morning on the last day of all long 365 days of a year… It was pretty hard to get us up this morning… we came late last night after the Philee’s Big Day celebration. This morning was like a few before, except the blustery weather became scattered showers, and the clouds in a snap squeezed themselves, and in another second the strong sunshine dried them up… so gusty winds these days, so as fast as the clouds appeared, they disappeared as well.

As we said last night, so it happened. We were in The Living Room Restaurant Bar for Sunday Brunch and to have some internet occasion as well. In Galway Cathedral was a mass before noon, so I went there one-ish to take some pictures of this long-term exhibition of stain glass windows showing the legendary paths of X-mas Birth. Everyone inside of the Cathedral was whispering, but the wind outside made a spooky atmosphere with its whistling echo effects…

I picked up the guys, they were already done with their computer stuff, and then all three of us got out of there to find some local traditional pub for celebrate the welcome 2007 New Year.

We were in lots of pubs, most of them already fully occupied (and it was only 3 in the afternoon!), a few of them had not on the night list scheduled live music that we looked for. Finally we found one, and stayed in that local pub, where suppose to play a folk live music tonight from 6:30, so let’s see…

We left M.T. Pocket’s about an hour before midnight to enjoy the celebration in the streets. For the best place we asked a group of “Garda” (police), who supposed to be in this tourist’s part of Town at home the most. The New Year we spent with Becherovka in plastic cups in our hands … and our heads. No colorful fireworks were permitted, so we cheered near by the wild river, and followed the cross on the main street, which is all colorful of little store houses one by another.

Oh yeah, the two thousand and seventh year the border of the New Year brought! Happy Joy, joy!

When we were done, with our Becherovka, we did admit that we are right ripe to go back to BnB, use the bathroom in the cabinet, and looking forward to last fresh, crispy, crunchy pile of toasts with Irish, traditional, salty butter, and a pot of hot water for Breakfast.

Oh yeah, this morning was an important, not so early, not so calm... it was a real Irish weather outdoor, and a ripe time to decide about our next destination... Dublin was on the list of our trip, but we are sure Dublin shall be a special chapter of our extra travel sometimes in near future...

We have read about Dublin and its surrounding a lot, enough to enjoy our Ireland's adventures in the North, let's go slowly dow to get full taste of the southern Ireland on the way back to Cork, through Athlone - the Heart of Ireland, Kilkenny - the Home of Southpark, and Cork - the randez vous with our Iron Bird which will aim for the capital city of Czech Republic as his last destination of this trip.

The Hill of Tara is the most interesting point where to go if already in Dublin or in the Midlands county. It is a site of mythical importance, the spiritual centre of Celtic Ireland, and views over the Boyne Valley.

Irish Myth and Legend

Tara, a Hill in central Ireland, originally a place of sepulture. It was the seat of the high kingship in early times. However, the kingship does not seem to have been a political reality until the ninth century. The Ui Neill dynasty, who became high kings and had originally been kings of Tara, retained this title even after their removal elsewhere. Tara itself may have been looked on as a bastion against the forces of the otherworld.

Recipe of the Day

Wrote about Kings? So, a bit about Becherovka, the King between Bohemian liqueurs, Czech Republic... the one of healthy liquids that contains alcohol... It is great as an apetizer or as a shot for better digestive, used right after your less or more enjoyable dish. Both purposes are guaranteed since 1806.

Becherovka Celebrates its 200th Year

An unbelievable 200 years of existence – such is the anniversary to be celebrated in 2007 by the now world-renowned trademark of Becherovka, in fact one of the oldest of all Czech registered brands. This exceptionally refined, all-natural and highly traditional alcoholic drink enters its third century as one of the most widely sold bitter herbal liqueurs in the Czech Republic. According to the most recent data of the agency ACNielsen, Becherovka achieved in the period of June-July 2006 a total market share of 36%, the highest figure in the drink’s history. Presently, Becherovka is exported to a total of 35 different countries, and its list of export destinations continues to grow.
