Apart from 2 drunk Irish girls coming in, in the early hours, another good nights sleep. Andy did a classic, woke up and the clock said 9.30am so he quietly woke Meg up, only then did he realise when he looked at the watch that it was actually 8.30am and he hadn't changed the travel clock to Pacific time! Anyway, whatever the time was, we got up and showered before having breakfast. When we went downstairs we could see that the weather had changed a lot as there was thick cloud looming very low over the lake so that you couldn't see any mountains. We waited around for it to clear and used the time to book our hostel in Tofino and to move our stuff into room G, our private room for the night. It cleared slightly so we drove into the village and caught a gondola up at about 11.30am, going through the clouds and getting glimpses of views during the 25min trip to the roundhouse lodge. From here we could see the large thick cloud gathered below and also the cloud flowing around the summit of the mountain. It was cold up here and the wind was quite bitting so when we got on the open Peak Chair up to the very summit of Whistler, all 7,078ft of it, we grabbed a blanket to cover our legs. We got to the summit at 12.15pm having travelled above the glaciers and even through some clouds. We were dissapointed because there was so much cloud around that we couldn't really see anything below or even the nearby mountains. So instead of doing a lengthy hike as we had planned, we did a loop trail around the peak before taking the peak road trail to the teahut where Meg had a cuppa and we ate our lunch. After we took the little Whistler way trail back down to the roundhouse lodge where at 3.30pm we took a gondola back down to the bottom. We went to Zogs and each had a beavertail with Nutella, there so bloody delicious, that we had another one each! We rolled around some shops before driving back to the hostel where we sat in the lounge and chatted to the Danish guy and some Irish people. Later we had dinner and sat talking to the Danish guy again before reading/doing the journal.
