September 27th: Bighorn Mountains were rainy and cold. I didn't do any hiking or off-road driving due to the wet condition. The closer I got to Cody, WY, the better the weather was. Arriving early in Cody, I made a reservation for 2 nights in the Grant Village Lodge in Yellowstone NP. The ride to that lodge is very scenic and I stopped in many places. Grant Village is quite modern, but has no Wi-Fi or TV. Good to have a book and some broschures of the park to read.

Es war sehr regnerisch und kalt in den Bighorn Mountains. Deshalb habe ich keine Wanderung und keine Fahrten abseits der Strassen gemacht. Je naeher man an Cody kam, desto besser wurde das Wetter und da ich recht frueh dort eintraff, habe ich gleich 2 Naechte im Grant Village reserviert. Die Fahrt dorthin ist sehr beeindruckend und ich habe einige Stopps an der Strasse gemacht, um Fotos zu schiessen. Grant Village ist relativ modern, es hat aber kein WLAN und auch kein Fernsehr. Gut habe ich ein Buch und Broschueren zum lesen!

September 28th: Yellowstone took my full attention and I spent a long 12 hrs day with driving, hiking and staying around with my mouth wide open. The scenery is breath taking and hard to describe. Magnificent rock constellations, fascinating wildlife and jaw dropping views. Despite the off season, there are quite a number of travellers around. It must be terrible during the high season. Right now it is just perfect.

Der Yellowstone Park hat meine volle Aufmerksamkeit und ich hatte heute einen langen 12 Stunden Tag verbracht mit fahren, wandern und mit weit offenem Mund staunen. Die Landschaft ist atemberaubend und schwierig zu beschreiben. Erstaunliche Felsformationen, faszinierende Wildtiere und unglaubliche Aussichtspunkte. Obschon die Hochsaison zu Ende ist, sind einige Reisende unterwegs. Es muss in der Hochsaison recht schlimm sein. Zurzeit ist es einfach perfekt!

September 29th: Today was a Geyser day. I visted several places with Geyser activity and it is very impressing, what force is ready to burst just beneth your feet! As I love water, I spend quite some hours just watching the playful life of Geysers. I was told, that the activity changes quite a lot during the year and also over the years. Mud holes are one of my favourites. Nice blubbbbb.

And guess what: they serve Espresso in the Old Faithful Inn!!

Heute war ein Geysier Tag. Ich besuchte einige Geysier Plaetze und es ist sehr eindruecklich, was fuer eine Gewalt unter den Fuessen schlummert. Da ich Wasser liebe, habe ich einige Stunden damit verbracht, dem spielerischen Leben der Geysiere zu zuschauen. Mir wurde gesagt, die Aktivitaeten aendern sich waehrend des Jahres sowie ueber die Jahre hinweg ziemlich stark. Schlammloecher sind meine Favoriten. Laessiges Blubbb.

Und ratet mal: im Old Faithful Inn gibt es Espresso!!

September 30th:

Hiking was my plan of today and I did it! I started the Seven Mile Hole Trail at the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. But after 1 1/2 hrs, the trail condition changed and I was not willing to do this descent alone. So I hiked the way back and felt a bit annoyed as the 3 hrs in the forest were very boring. Back in the Old Faithful Inn Lodge, I had my espresso and made a long walk through the local Geysers.

Wandern war mein Plan heute und das habe ich auch gemacht. Ich habe den Seven Mile Hole Trail im Grand Canyon vom Yellowstone Park angefangen, doch wurde der Weg nach 1 1/2h ziemlich steil und ich wollte alleine nichts riskieren. So bin ich halt den langweiligen Pfad wieder zurueck gegangen. Zurueck im Old Faithful Inn habe ich mir einen Espresso gegoennt und habe dann die Geysiere vor der Haustuere noch etwas angeschaut.
