Got up - both knew we had a big day - Dave put his favourite T Shirt on - its scary how homosexual one guy can look in a cycling T shirt ...

The ride out of Budapest was really hilly. We pushed hard through 36 degree heat up and down hills. When we reached 55 miles we put the Ipods on and cycled through the pain ... Felt good for a few miles - music made you ignore the pain but pretty soon the effects wore off and my lower back and legs felt like jelly ... but we kept on pushing. There were a couple of crazy moments - At one point we were in no mans land for about 3 hours - no people, no buildings just fields - very demoralizing. I also learnt why dave brought so many chocolate bars - once your energy goes exhaustion kicks in ... you cant see, you can't balance, everything just goes ... like a light switch being turned off ... I was lucky not to crash when I stopped at this point as I had effectively gone blind !
