  • As drove south towards Lamington National Park we stopped at Canundra for morning tea at a roadside park. As we made our way up the mountain, it became apparent that the road was narrow and winding, often close to the edge of sheer cliffs. Eddie is a great driver, so I felt comfortable with his driving. The place at the top of the mountain, O'Reilly's Rainforest Guesthouse, is where my aunt and uncle spent their honeymoon back in 1942. Back then they made their way up the mountain on horseback.
  • O'Reilly's is a mountain resort and it is noted for its views of the surrounding mountains, and it has tall trees in a mountain top rainforest that range in height between 80 - 120 feet. A suspension walkway is built through the tops of the trees on the west side with spectacular views. This tree top walkway was featured at one time in Outback Steakhouse commercial on television in the United States.
  • The wild parrots there are bright red, green and blue. You can buy a small bag of feed and they will fly out of the trees and land on you and feed from your hand.
