Remember the Alamo!
From Looking for America in San Antonio, United States on Jun 25 '06
Aaaaand we're off!! Our trip has finally begun...we've only been talking about it for a year, or so. After getting a bit of a late start, we finally made it to our great state capitol in Austin. Despite the fact that it was past 5:00, the building was still open, so we went in and took a self-guided tour. Next we did a quick drive-through of Sixth Street. That didn't take long. Which is good, because we had more of Texas to see!
We went on to San Antonio, where we went sight-seeing along the River Walk. Along the way, we stumbled into a hotel jazz bar and got to listen to some great live music before going on to the Alamo. Of course, it was closed, but according to the nice yet camera-shy security guard, we were allowed to go up "as far as the chain". We got some good video footage, read some historic plaques and remembered the Alamo. I think we did something else, but I forget. Next is Houston, then Louisiana.
More soon!
