First hike...
After a long drive, we finally arrived to our destination...
We spent the first in a Motel outside the Grand Canyon as we could not find anywhere else to stay.
The next morning we drove through the Park where we found a spot for the tent.
The weather was not that great so we decided to have lunch at this restaurant on top of the the South Rim.
We then waked around the Rim and had a long look at the breathtaking view of the Canyon.
We took it easy that day and cruised along the Rim, stopped...and decided to hike down the Grand Canyon the next day.
Before it got dark, we walked down the Kaibab trail for an hour, the trail would take us down the Grand canyon in the morning. It didn't seem too bad and I was looking forward to the challenge...I really had no idea...

As it got dark, we went back to the camp site where Erin cooked for me for the first time. Very impressive, very good too !
In the morning, we packed everything in the car and we headed for the start of the trail.
Our bags were heavy and we had to carry more than two gallons of water down the Canyon.
We started on the trail at 8am, the weather was beautiful and the trail was in the shade. The conditions seemed ideal...
30 minutes down the trail, Erin spotted a Condor perched on the rock she sat on the night before. We kept our distance and were able to observe it for 5 minutes before he flew down the Canyon.
As we were making our way down, I noticed that my shoes felt a little tight and that the sides of my feet were constantly rubbing...
As we were going down, convoys of tourists on top of donkeys were making their way up and down the Canyon. Each time, we had to let them by as the trail was very narrow. I kind of felt sorry for these animals who must have been up and down that trail thousands of times. Each time they passed us, we would use that opportunity to rehydrate ourselves, eat a powerbar and admire the view.
