I got to spend a few days in Venice while Pam and Sam took the girls to France.
Venice was a really fun and intresting place to visit. It is of course very unique in the fact that it is an island and people mainly get around by boat. Motor vehicles of any sort are not allowed on the island thus everything is moved about by either boat or hand truck. Venice's claims to fame along with it's rivers and canals include glass from the island Murano, lace from the island of Burano and it's Carnivale masks.

While I was there I visited a few art museums and decided that I most enjoyed the two which focused on modern and abstract art. I think that with all of the amazing history that I see and experience almost daily that I may have overdosed on history and it was very refreshing to see something a little different.
Other then museums I stumbled into a few beautiful churches and spent quite a bit of time being lost and enjoying the "streets".
My favorite place was the island of Burano. I loved how the houses were all different colors. The island was very small and it just seemed to have such a personality to it, that the other bigger islands lacked. It was almost like that small town type of feeling. I also really liked the deserted building type island that were on the way to Burano and Murano. I don't know what they were but now they are just the shells of stone buildings that appear to have taken up the entire island.
