What a difference a day (and a new pair of boots) makes! I started out suffering a little late jetlag and was not entirely inspired to get back on my board.  It was overcast and windy and not inviting.

So we started back at the ski shop with intent, after trying on several boots i decided on a lovely pair of burtons that are quite lovely at $160USD (you gotta love these prices!!) and ask yourself why stop at one pair.  Now now settle down, i only bought the one pair. While all this shopping madness was going on, Charlotte was proceeding to be driven insane by the temperature of the air conditioning.  She ended up parading around the store in a very fetching pair of emerald green long johns and thermal shirt.  She was like a live mannequin and i was longing for my camera.

Lions and tigers and bears oh my (well not the lions but tigers and bears)!

Well after feeling much better for my retail therapy we went down the road to the zoo.  We got to see the polar bear, some brown bears, some siberian tigers, snow leopard, moose and many more. We then proceeded on down to Alyeska for a bite to eat while we decided whether we felt like getting up there.

It was snowing fairly heavily at the base and there was quite a blustery wind.  After Charlotte spoke with some nice chaps about the conditions up top she insisted that we see it for ourselves.  I agreed as i had some new boots to try after all.  Well i am sure glad that we did because there was enough powder to cover all the ice and bumps from the previous day and there was hardly anyone on the mountain.  I am in love with my boots and board.  The board in particular is just made for such conditions and the snow cover was the true "ego snow" where you just can't help but board well due to the depth.  It makes life very easy and enjoyable.

So it was a huge difference (i sure Charlotte was absolutely delighted not having to suffer my bitching and moaning from the previous day) and she was the one that called an end to the day (however she didn't have to convince me too much). We headed on back to Humpys for a Humpy Burger washed down once again with the lovely Oregon Honey Ale.

Tomorrow we are off to Cordova, it looks as though it might snow for the next day or so, so it could be a little while before we step into the heli's.
