Volcan Arenal

Got here on Thu 24th November, after an 8 hour journey (including a 3 hour stop-over in Tilaran). Checked into a cool hostel and was supposed to do the active volcano tour but it was too cloudy.

Fri 25th Nov - Again, it was far too cloudy for mi liking and it rained so I put off the hike and volcano trip for a day longer. Spent the whole afternoon reading and chilling with the other backpackers in the hostel. Sat 26th - AT LAST the weather was good!!! Got woken up by a guy in my dorm at 6 am as the volcano was in full visibility (though after seeing it and taking a few pics I went back to bed!!). Did the hike in the rainforest in the afternoon and ended up at the view point where one could see the red hot lava flowing down the volcano in the evening. AN AMAZING SIGHT!!!! Absolutely breathtaking. The night was topped off by chilling in the nearby hotsprings - and having a few cocktails whilst in the pools. A great day!! Sun 27th - Left for San Jose
