The climb!

The next day we were rudely awaken by the pound of ESN on the door.  We all decided to ignore it and sleep longer.  Patrick and I, who are usually always eating, decided to go check out the breakfast.  It wasn't all that bad.  Tons of bread, eggs, and cheese.  I went with some brie and a baguette.  It was really good.  Then I proceeded back to our room and began to pack.

They split the group into 2 groups, and I went on the later one.  We walked through the city to this huge tower called the Dom Tower.  There was something like 500 steps to the top.  It started off with fairly large steps, but progressed to some of the tiniest steps I have ever seen.  Also they are all in a spiral staircase fashion which is rather difficult to navigate.  We made it to the first stop where we saw a couple bells and some stain glass.  The Tower was built for a paranoid Bishop and had all types of safety features such as the narrow and tall stairs as well as really really thick walls.  On the way up to the next part, I hid in a tiny window and jumped out and made Nick scream like a little girl.  On the next part we were in the belltower.  It was awesome.  These bells were so big and LOUD!  They said if we rang the big ones while we were up there we would all go deaf.  So we tried not to do that.  Then we made it to the top.  It was so high.  I took some pictures but then my camera ran out of batteries...I knew it would but it was a risk I was willing to take.  Also the rain had turned to snow and it was really pretty up top.

The climb down was mesmerizing.  So many steps, over and over.  But we all made it down without any injuries.  The next stop was the dutch pancake restaurant.  I ordered mine with bacon and it was so salty that I didn't even like it.  I tried to cover it with syrup but their syrup here is terrible.  Its really thick and isn't as sweet as what I'm used to.  We sat around for a while after we were all finished eating (like usual here) and then it was back to the hostel.  We packed up our stuff and boarded the bus to our last and final destination.

Hello, Dear Nathan, It's lovely your trip diary. I'm really very interested in the chees farm you visited in Utrecht, could you tell me from the station of Utrecht or Downtown of Utrecht how to get there? I'm going to Holland alone from Italy during the 16-23,set. thanks so much, and best regards, Leilei
