All castled out in Kilkenny

This is an excert from an article entitled 'Twelve things to see in twelve days, by public transport, out of season", by Karen Watkins.
I spent the day wondering around Killkenny town, described as a medieval city and one of Ireland’s oldest and most beautiful. By this stage, I was all castled out and couldn’t face a 40-minute tour of the extensively remodelled Kilkenny Castle. Instead I visited the Art Gallery in the former servants rooms, and then roamed the surrounding parklands.
Climbing the 30-m tower at St Canice’s Cathedral
The previous evening I’d heard the Brahms Requiem in St Canice’s Cathedral, but today I was more interested in the 30-m 9th century round tower, next-door. But it was closed! After some arm-twisting I was allowed the exhilarating climb, a tight squeeze requiring both hands to clamber steep ladders. It gave me an insight into how people used to live with the tower being broken into sections with floors where the inhabitants slept.
This was the final place on my itinerary and I slept the night in a small town outside Dublin before meeting up with Maeri before my flight back to England.
