Well we won't spend much time extolling the amazing Cape Town experiences - not because there aren't tons of them, but because this entry is more a starting point for the rest of our travels.

Our planning thus far has been based on a few useful resources:

The Naive First Plans!

1.  The Rough Guide - First Time Around the World (Trip Planner for the Ultimate Journey)

First Time Around the World - The 'Bible' of trip planning

2.  The Times Atlas of the World (Denise spent a good 2 weeks comapring every conceivable atlas - and even purchased and returned another one - b4 choosing this one for its clarity of maps and details)

3.  DK Eyewitness Travel Guide - Europe

4.  The Rough Guide - First Time Asia (Everything you need to know b4 u go)

At this stage our rough idea is to start in the UK - especially London (to meet up with Jon Nish and his girlfriend Jan and other mates in the area) and Scotland and Ireland (Denise hasn't been to the land of kilts and glens and Rob wants to kiss the Blarney Stone), then to France, Switzerland, Andorra, Spain, Portugal, Morrocco, back to Spain, Monaco and France (the rivieras), then Italy, the Vatican City, Greece, Turkey and Germany (to spend a few days with Denise's Mom in Beeskow catching our breath).  Then off to the East - although still no real definite order we are thinking along the lines of China, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives - then Aussie, New Zealand and a few of the Pacific Islands.

Well that's our first thoughts - no doubt these will change with more research and who knows - possibly your advice?

Hey Travelling Spaulls... When you get to UK, if you make it to Wales, come meet your namesake! Me and My wife Lisa live in North Wales (as do my parents Nigel & Anthea Spaull). I'd love to meet the only other Rob Spaull I've ever heard of! Have a great trip! Rob Spaull
