What is it like here in Kigali? It is like waking up to the song of a bird that sounds like a flute and a drum at the same time. I as not here to see her precious Gorilla's. I have no desire to see that while I'm here. I am here to be a witness. It is no secret what happened here. You sense there is a gaping wound in the heart of this land, but the beauty of it is the Rwandan people are activley trying to heal that wound. the world will learn from the mistakes of the international community who turned their backs at a time of great need. I have heard testimony, I attended a Gacaca court hearing, we've met with the several Rwandan Dignitaries and they all feel pressure to make change happen here. That change will be a testiment and a model for the rest of the world. These people live the mistakes of a history that was created by forigners. By a king who never set foot in this land but his rule continues to effect this place in a daily basis. You can only imagine Rwanda until you come here and experience it. I have cried everyday, at times through a smile. I have slapped my thigh and laughed like I was at home. I have left a house full of the food that was cooked with love for me and my friends. I have been kissed by the tailor who made the dress for me to fit me and noone else. I have heard women sing and loud and not to perform for me but spontaniously in a black out (happens several times a day) a song was sung by all of the women in the dressshop in celebration of an upcomming wedding. I have heard song after song. I have danced with my people who say I look like them. I have been here! And I will take a Rwanda back home with me in my heart. Today we go to the Genocide museum. Tomorrow we go to visit a Jail and a genocide site in Nyamata. Just when I think I'm fill I get one more drop and my cup joyfully runneth over.

Hey I saw you stayed in Centre Christus in Kigali. I'm trying to figure out how to get there from the airport. Any (cheap) suggestions? Thanks!

I saw Andrew Jackson speak on, well, being outspoken; some congressional award to that effect, and part of his speech was about recovery in Rwanda as a model for the rest of the world. He said that even though the shit that went down was instigated and ignored, they are making serious strides in harmony at present. To that he said that the voting system was intricately established such that no one party could ever really win, or at least have a majority vote rendering. If I remember correctly he also said something to the effect of equal representation along gender lines as well. May want to check that out and get runneth over s'more. Your kinda fuel; your kinda food. You came up in conversation last night. My next door neighbor is a director, finishing his dissertaion in Seattle. He thinks somewhat like you. I tell everyone... All ways, me
