After what seemed like a never ending flight and some really unfriendly customs people in Miami, we finally arrive in Quito on Friday evening. Our lack of Spanish has seemed quite apparent from the word 'go' when we tried to tell the taxi driver where the hotel was but we got there in the end. The Spanish phrase book has come in handy!.

On Saturday morning we got up really early because of the 6 hour time difference and tried to find somewhere to watch the England game which was on at 10am. We really wanted to go to a pub but they didn't understand that us English might want a drink and watch football at 10am. Cerveza por fabor to the cab driver took us to a great little pub which was showing the game outside in the sunshine. What a shame about the result!. Me and Ben were certain that this was our year and ready for a good party in Quito to celebrate but losing on penalties is something you have to get used to if you are English!!.

(To all the boys back home: I hope it didn't ruin the trip to Germany, those pictures you sent were quality!. Greg looked well out of the game!)

Sunday arrived and we checked in to this great little hostel in the Old Town of Quito called 'The Secret Garden'. The view from the terrace is stunning and the people were really friendly and welcoming. You can have dinner on the terrace and it is a really good way to meet other travellers and share your advice and experiences over a few beers.

Monday night was the first night we decided to go out and have a night on the town. We met some cool people from the hostel and decided to go out for a few beers. It turned into a bit of a heavy night and ended up in some weird cocktail bar until 3am eating nachos. It probably wasn´t the best idea i have ever had as we had to get up really early in the morning to climb up one of the largest volcanos in Ecaudor called Mt Pannincha.

The alarm clock rang at 6:30am and felt a tad fragile but we knew that an intense day of climbing was ahead of us so we had a bit of breakfast which was a disgusting potato dumpling thing with plantain in the middle. It wasn´t exactly a full english breakfast to put it nicely!.

We commenced our climb up the mountain but didn´t realise quite how intense it was going to be. It has hard enough walking up
