My poor little Gab woke up and was still sick. I have to give credit where credit  is due, she lifted herself out of bed and opened the blinds and said... Mum I cant believe its not sunny, its still raining ( woops, mentioned the R word)...  She was feeling sick as a dog but still found the energy to get out of bed and try and hope for some rays of sunshine.

We started the day slowly and Gab had eaten nothing for over 24 hours so the vomiting had stopped (for the time being) but the bacteria had still not passed and she was still feeling rather ill.  I spent the morning watching the movie channel and trying to convince Gab that if I could get her out of the room, she may start to feel better with some fresh air.

At 10.30 I had convinced her that she needed to get out and about, so I went off and hired a car for the remainder of our stay in Fiji.

At midday we picked up our Toyota Yaris and dared to take on the local drivers and the roads riddled with pot holes and the odd animal :-0

We headed back towards the airport and onwards to Latoka.  Vitu Levu second biggest city.  Once on the road and out of that room, Gab started to pick up and was heading back towards her normal bubbly self.

On the way to Latoka we stopped at the "Sleeping Giant, Orchard Gardens".  Originally owned by a famous late actor (cant remember his name but can see his face,,hmmmm).  This place is a few acres of lush gardens and rain forest.  It was really beautiful and really inspired me to go home and start on my own garden.  What I was surprised at was the same amount of plants I had in my own garden, planted before my arrival.  It became clear to me that the previous tenant might have been and Islander because I could see that they were trying to achieve something similar...... that was before I moved in and RUINED it :-(

It was a very hot humid day and after we came out of the rain forest we were greeted by a staff member with a beautiful chilled fresh fruit juice made from the fruits of the gardens.  Sitting up in our assigned seats we drank our juice overlooking the tranquil gardens and then headed back on our way.

It wasn't long into our trip that Gab started to feel sick again.  Silly me, I should of known not to let her have juice after being so sick.  We did get to Latoka and started to look around however had to head back because Gab was started to get very ill again.

Once we got back home Gab starting getting sick all over again. I realised that maybe we needed to get a doctor to look over her.  The Sheraton was advised that she was ill and needed to see a doctor.  They assigned a staff member to escort me to the local doctors surgery in Nadi.  We were off within the hour and were seen straight away.  The doctor wanted to give her an injection but the thought of that upset her even more so medication was given and Gab was told to head straight to bed with no further food, only water. What he did say was a bit of a surprise. He said that there were many cases of food poisoning coming from the Sheraton Resort and he was concerned. It was this comment that confirmed with me that you can travel any where in the world and if you cannot see the food getting cooked then you run the risk of food poisoning. We will just have to stick to our street food stalls. (really just an excuse for me to justify the backpacking thing over the resort thing ;-) )
