Leaving day
From Alan & Emma's extended holiday in Belfast, United Kingdom on Oct 03 '08
So we finally managed to get everything ready to go. Extra flights (from Singapore to Phuket) were booked, we had somewhere to stay for our first few stops which was a relief and neither of us were going to miss the sideways rain Belfast was being subjected to as we left the house for the airport.
On the way to the airport the traffic was ridiculous. Apparently the QE II was visiting and it seemed like EVERYONE had decided to go and see it. A short detour through East Belfast was required to ensure we got to the airport on time.
Once we'd checked in (using the new funky DIY thingys) and deposited our luggage at outsize baggage (apparently rucksacks aren't allowed to go on the conveyer belt with the suitcases) it was time to say the last goodbyes. I jokingly asked my niece if she'd like to come with us, a swift "No" was accompanied by determined clinging to her mother's leg. As we headed for security it was a different story though, with a resigned look to her mum and dad Ellie followed us. Boy did I feel bad about joking with her when we had to explain she couldn't come......
