We were up and out of the house by about 4:30 a.m. for our 6:30 flight. Hurricane Hannah looms in out future as she works up the east coast. There is some concern that she will arrive in Boston before we do which will be an issue as to whether our plane lands or not.

It turned out not to be an issue at all. Boston was very cloudy and extremely hot and humid (I thought I was still in Dallas) but we landed early and as we stepped out of Logan there was an Avis shuttle virtually in front of us.

After picking up our car the challenge was getting out of Logan and heading north to maine. We had the computer and GPS to help us navigate. Let me tell you, the thing sucks! We were never able to connect with any satellites and finally just gave up and relied on Cal's good sense of direction. Somehow we made it out of Boston.

The drive to Brunbswick was uneventful. We got sporatic rain but nothing really heavy until we were esconsed in our "no-tell-motel" room.

The place was OK. Clean but nothing fancy. It was a place to sleep.

Before checking into the motel, we decided to find something to eat. Freeport is about 10 miles south of Brunswick. Cal had been there about 20 years ago. There was a restaurant on the wharf that he really liked and as happens sometimes, when we asked for a good place to eat, we were directed to a restaurant that turned out to be the one he'd eaten at years ago.

I wish I could remember the name of the place. You ordered outside at a window, picked up your food and either ate inside or under a tarp outside. There was a lobster dinner with a whole lobster, fried clams, corn, cornbread and coleslaw for $22.00. I didn't want that much to eat so I ordered fried scallops. They were delicious and there was no way to eat them all.

On to our motel for the night. It was dark and rainey when we got there and I have no idea what Brunswick looks like.

There are no photos of this let of the trip.
