Sorry about the last report. We were having to book a car rental to Rome as the rail in Florence has decided to have a 24 hour strike. We were in a queue to pick up some tickets when were heard about it. It was not publisised at all.

Any way back to the trip. We had a great visit to the 5 towns sitting on the cliffs on western <italy . They are known as Cinque Terre . We walked and also took a Ferry and train to get around 4 of the 5 towns. We had a swim in the Med. It is crystal clear.

We have just had dinner at a self help eatery with a wine out of a massive bottle . its our last night before we head off to Rome. We are stopping in a litle town tomorrow called Orvieta which is on the way to rome. we have 2 nights in Rome. we part company from the cuninghams who fly back to Oz, we continue on to France. The weather has been in excess of 30 each day. we keep hearing about the 10 deg days in melb and all the snow. Bad luck. In Florence we have done the various galleries which are predoinantly made up of old works of art from churches, After a while it gets boring. We went to the statue of David today and it was the only standout in the gallery.

Its 9:30pm and we are sitting next to the river in a little shop. We are on the road at 9.00am in the morning and after our venture in driving in Florence we ar not going to drive in rome. we will leave the car at the local airport.

anyway love to you all, we are all well and whilst a bit o the tired side are really enjoying the journey

Internet in Europe is a bit of a challenge! But, great to hear from you again! We are following you on the map. Good decision to not drive in Rome - we want to see you again! School holidays here, cold, but not much rain. Just had the w/end in Shepparton. Good to catch up with people, but SO glad to come home.... Luv Tricia XX

Glad to hear that you had a bit of the Florentine driving experience - cured you of driving in Rome, eh? Tell us about it! I can see we will have lots of European driving experience discussions when you get back. Not to mention the old Florentine rail Strike out of nowhere experience. Happens all the time according to Marika. Eating pizza at Cinqua Terra almost as good as endless touring of renaissance art galleries - you can never get enough! Enjoy Rome. Peter & Georgie

The statue of David was the only standout - very funny Billy!!! From what I have seen it is not so prominent. Glad to hear you guys are having fun and seeing a wonderful part of the world. You would be wise not to try to drive in Rome - its easy enough to walk around although you will need good walking shoes. Peter
