I jumped right into "work" after I arrived.  Julie was only around for a couple of days, so I was really anxious to hear about all of the details of the town.  I met the rest of the Board of Education (BOE) workers and we ran around town trying to get things set up for me, and closed out for Julie.  It was FREAKIN HOOOOT...i don't think I stopped sweating until October.

Luckily my apt had an oscillating fan and small air conditioner in my bedroom...but the place to be was the BOE.  I never had work to do so I studied Japanese and pretended to do other "important" things.  I wrote my school schedule in 2 planners, translated a children's book into English and made a large picture book (which I still have never used), made construction paper props, read (yea, i know, right)...i was pretty bored most of my time.  Occasionally someone would take me on an errand or Nakamura-san would take me to a school to meet the teachers, but they usually didnt take up much of my day at all.  Thinking about it though, I really liked spending time there.  It was air-conditioned AND i got endless coffee, tea and treats.
