As Rose was very keen to try out our new tent so on our way up to Dublin we went via Kerry. We checked into a camping ground got our tent sent up, it was a bit bigger than we were expecting...
The sky looked like it was threatening rain so we headed up to Ross Castle before it began. We had a guided around the Castle and had a wee wander around outside.
The next day we went to see Muckross Estate, in Killarney National Park. After visiting Muckross House & Gardens we went for a walk along the lakeshore to Torc Waterfall. On the way back from the waterfall it began to rain, by the time we got back to the car it was torrential. We sheltered in the car for awhile waiting for a gap in the rain. It stopped momentarily so we headed out to the Traditional Farms, a collection of various sized 1930’s working farms. It had cleared up a bit by the time we got back to the car so we walked up to see Muckross Abbey, pretty ruins of a 15th century monastery.

Killarney was grand (as the Irish say) and we can’t wait to return to do some tramping there.
