Just what the doctor ordered

Our trip was amazing but it was a lot of travelling and very little relaxation - Siena was just what we needed to wind down. We spent the day walking (leisurely), eating the most wonderful foods, and seeing some really lovely churches. Siena was again really quite crowded, but that just seemed to be a theme throughout Italy.
The Duomo in Siena was gorgeous. It reminded me of the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland, which doesn't sound gorgeous but it was. I know that's strange, the interior was full of black and white strips which just kept making me think of Alice in Wonderland.

After the Duomo was walked up to the top of the arch, near the Duomo, and saw the spectacular scenery and landscapes of Tuscany. We really soaked up the Tuscany feeling and from that point on, just took it all in. We found a lovely little restaurant serving very high end food, for very reasonable prices. We took our time and enjoyed every last bite. And then we just kept walking and exploring. The streets of Siena's old town were narrow and winding, and great to just get lost in, however they all lead back to the Palito - a majestic looking square and the center of the city.

It's a shame we didn't have more time, and maybe even a couple of extra days, because Siena definitely got under our skin and we would have loved to see more of the city, and the surrounding countryside.
