On our way to Rodeo and Portal, we stopped by Deming. There was a big Cinco de Mayo celebration going on, which was fun. The most exciting thing about Deming was that we discovered sopaipillas, a kind of fried bread unique to New Mexico and a few other places. Brad got them filled with meat, which were ok but not too distinct since they were covered with sauce. We saw people eating them plain with honey though and wished we'd ordered that. Imagine our surprise when the waitress brought us a plate of warm sopaipillas and a big bottle of honey for dessert. Yum! Now, I'm looking for a place in LA that has sopaipillas.
We discovered sopaipillas!
