PEI Mussels it's all about the seafood here

Waking up about 9.30am, just in time to indulge ourselves with the free continental breakfast, we filled our stomachs before checking out and drove into Charlottetown. We checked out Peakes Wharf and the Founders hall” which were also closed for the winter season so we settled for the St. Dunstans Basillica which seemed to be open. Following this we decided to take a break and look for a place to dine ourselves with a special seafood lunch as this was what living out the East was all about. We walked in one place that had All You Can Eat Mussels for like $9.99, but we found that chairs were still on tables and nobody around so we walked to the back eventually seeing someone and  asked someone in the kitchen and yep to no surprise, the place was closed. We continued our search but place after place was closed but finally found a place that was open. We sat down and immediately knew what we wanted as we having heard only good things about PEI Mussels, we ordered a serve of that and a serve of fresh oysters. We started with the Oysters, firstly trying the horse radish sauce and seafood cocktail sauce it came with, and to my disappointment, it just didn’t cut it. So for the next ones, I asked for some classic Tabasco sauce and mixed a concoction of salt, pepper and lots of Tabasco sauce on the oysters. Slurping every bit of it deliciously…. it really hit the spot. With oyster shells put aside we dug into the PEI blue mussels, lightly steamed over with a light tangy basil flavoured sauce. They were huge, soft and extremely delicious.

Following lunch we topped up our stomachs with the all so claimed to be “Best Ice Cream in Canada” from Cows as it is made 100% with cow milk. It was sure creamy.

Then about 4pm we decided to get back on the road back to Moncton. Taking a detour to The Bay of Fundy, we took the so called scenic route but all the way the scenic route wasn’t even a scenic route as it went through a series of towns and all we saw was buildings and towns and more buildings. But eventually we hit like a little stretch where we drove down the coastline and took pictures as the sun was setting over a plain field covered in white snow. We got out of the car as we reached the Bay of Fundy looking out the bay where the sun was setting, we took a few good shots. Finally something worth it, it was an incredible sight as the sun was setting in the horizon with nothing but just snow covering everything.

We then drove to the motel we planned to stay a few days ago when we stopped by in Moncton and the open sign was there again but the door was locked and once again we gave the guy a call and he was in town again. So we drove around and found another Motel where we chose to rest for the night before continuing the drive to our next destination in the morning, an 8 hour drive to Quebec City.
