So Meg and I ended up leaving the most beautiful place in America...Yosemite. Before we left, we stopped at Glacier Point which happened have a very breathtaking view of the valley floor in which we were staying at in Yosemite. It was really amazing and for the first time I finally began to fear heights. The picture should explain itself. Meg and I were then off to link up with my uncle Tom's friends Tyler who was working at Pebble Beach on Manteray Peninsula. We got a personal tour of the work he is doing there at the fifth hole on Pebble Beach. Tyler then took us to his friend Jeff's house where Jeff and his wife had a beautiful home, just steps from the Pacific Ocean. We had some great food and I watched like it was a clip from the movie "Sideways" as they stood around and talked about wine. Meg and I tried to chime in every so often with the VERY little knowledge and vocab that we have about wine. I will tell you, it was some of the best wine I had ever had. We ended up getting an hour tour of the bay and all of the old places Steinbeck used to write about by Tyler. Tyler is so knowledgable and at the same time a very generous person and host. He let us crash at his brother and sister in law's house for the evening and made us feel very welcome. We then drove down the coast the next day on highway 1 to take in all there is to see of the Pacific slamming into the North American continents's west end.  Meg and I made the most out of having the Tyler experience. There is so much fun to be had with Tyler. He is truly one of the highlights of California. I swear he should start renting himself out to those who come to the central coast to visit. I can imagine that he would be booked for months. Put him in a cardboard box and tell him not to have fun...it would be impossible.

Sean was home-birthed there & and I lived there for about two yrs. while I was working for Southern Pacific at the Phelps-Dodge Copper Smelting Plant in DOUGLAS, AZ. Take a picture of a Century Plant, a Barrel Cactus, or an ocotillo for me. Uncle K.

Just 1 more thing: on way to BISBEE, AZ you pass through TOMBSTONE, AZ...remember Boot Hill, the OK Corral with the Earps & the Clantons, the old saloons & movie house, and the boarded sidewalks? Just an old high desert town sitting out in the middle of nowhere. Nothing more, I promise. Have fun, stay safe, watch out for the scorpions in your shoes and the rattlers wrapped around your tent stakes. Later, K.

I know your time is spoken for as you leave LA & that you already have a loose itinerary but if you go to the Grand Canyon, consider heading east on #I10 just east of Tucson and turn south at BENSON, AZ to visit BISBEE, AZ (about 1'15" from Benson), an old copper mining town high in the Mule Mts.
