From Sydney-HongKong-London in Bordeaux, France on Jul 09 '07
Tuesday 10 july We headed to Bordeaux quite early but got stuck in really bad traffic going through paris (for about 90 mins)... didnt doo much else but drive and arrived in Bordeaux (Franche´s second most beatiful after Paris) around 5;30pm and headed to internet cafe to do lots of uploading & typing of our journal; its now 9;30pm almost finished & we will try & get something to eat now! STARVING!!!!!
Wednesday, 11 July
The people are so friendly, the city is so quite old and beautiful with a lot of history , but not touristy and overcrowded, just magic.
Tried to do a wine tour early in the morning but it proved to be too difficult... wish I had made the time to do more French Lessons with Christine now!!! Oh well, I do know one phrase very well.... (do you speak english?).
Ended up doing a little shopping, the shops were great and ended up getting a bargain on two pairs of italian shoes that were on sale! Towards the end of the day we did a little train tour which took us around the city. Some of the sites we saw were the Grand Theatre which was built in Corinthian style (constructed 1733-1780), the Statute of Tourenhy built in 1757, another Notre Damme church, and much more.
Bordeaux is such a beatiful place, this has to be our favourite place so far. The people are so friendly, the city is so quite old and beautiful with a lot of history , but not touristy and overcrowded, just magic.
