- (Fri 23rd, Sat 24th). We had a small sleep in thanks to the gates being closed till 10am. After our usual jobs, we set off by 10.30 ish. From there we decided to go along the coast and check out Blackpool before going towards Preston to meet John and Thelma (Jules rellies). We stopped at the Docks and had some lunch before ringing John for directions. Bless their hearts, they drove half hour tyo meet us there as we would’ve definitely gotten lost. We were greeted with massive smiles and warm hugs. We followed them through beautiful countryside to Elswick, a cozy little town. First up- our washing was organized, Thelma is a champ! Then the ‘brews’ (tea/ coffee) were flowing freely before we all took off in their car to check out more lovely scenery. We went up to a lookout where we could see for miles. What fascinated us most of all were the frozen puddles. That’s how cold it was! We touched on the old part of Lancaster before heading back via the lookout to watch the sunset. Lovely arvo but more amazing was the lasagna, salad and cheesecake that Thelma whipped up for us. After showers it was more chats and off to bed. We woke to the smell of a British brekky. John was serving up a giant plate at 9.30am when we woke… YUM! What a great way to start the day. We then went for a drive into Preston to pick up their new tele. The day was a bit drizzly but ideal for another tour around. After a quick lunch, the boys mosied on around in the shed as the ladies chatted away in the warmth. Then it was off again to go a see John’s handywork with his latest supermarket he built. Brilliant! We stopped off at his Brother Neil’s place to meet both him and his wife Jo for a cupper before heading home. Only home for a dash, before going out for dinner. This was a highlight for sure. Besides the fact the food was unreal, John and Thelma would not let us pay for a thing. We came home with sore tummies from laughing so much…especially when sweets were served! The rest of the night was then full of more giggles as we helped them both with their new computer. We love these 2 people dearly.
