We found our way to Hoboken (a town of 500 people in rural south Georgia) for a shape note singing.  While there we met Sarah and Lane, a very cool couple who graciously invited us to stay at their house on the beach on St. Simons Island.  We had a great time with them and some of their friends (Hank: look for hot dogs photos from Detroit – thank you!).  Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer to explore the island…9 hours after arriving, we had to hit the road for Atlanta.

Turner Field ranks right up there for nice parks so far.  The people were extremely friendly, the concourses were open and had nice standing areas, you can read scouting reports of some current and past players on the walls, and there are lots of neat murals (like players made from a mosaic of license plates).

It was also a great game.  We saw John Smoltz fan his 2913th batter to become the Braves’ all-time leader in strikeouts.  He struck out 12 in 8 innings, and led the team to a 6-2 win over the Diamondbacks.  And speaking of the D-Backs, that was the 5th time we’ve seen them play.  So for those of you keeping score from home, they have appeared in no less than 1/4 of our games watched.  How did this happen?
