We arrived on Tinos at around 9 PM.  There was a Camping Tinos minibus meeting the ferries, so we got a ride to the campsite which was only about 5 minutes walk from the main part along the waterfront.  The campsite was not remarkable; no pool, moderately clean washrooms, and apparently there was hot water (although we never got any of it).

The next morning we explored the town of Tinos.  Tinos is a sort of religious centre with people making pilgrimmages to the Church of Panagia Evangelistria.  In fact, on the street leading up the hill to the church, there's a rubberised strip with sidelights for pilgrims to use on their way up the hill, crawling on their hands and knees, pushing their candles in front of them.  We even saw a pilgrim making his way up -- we felt awful when we passed him.  In all the sidestreets there was religious stuff being sold; some of the candles were skinny and 5 feet long!  The church itself was big and very elaborate in its' neoclassical style.

That afternoon we took a bus up into the mountains.  We had wanted to see the village of Volax.  As the bus only went up on Mondays, we had take up a different bus, then walk 40 minutes to the village.  It was worth it for some of the views we saw though.  We saw lots of dovecotes and in Volax there were rocks strewn all across the land.

On our last day on Tinos, it was so windy.  It had been windy ever since Andros but it was particularly windy that day--to the point where it was difficult to do anything, which is unfortunate when you don't have any room to go back to.  We took a bus to the nearby beach of Kionia which was next to the ruins of the Sanctuary of Poseidon and Amphitrite.  The beach was very windy, so we didn't go swimming.  The ruins were scant so we soon started heading back to Tinos.

This was our last day on Tinos before heading to our last island, Mykonos.
