Zadar is one of the most beautiful cities on the Adriatic. If you have ever been to Split, Zadar will impress you just as equally.

Long a settlement of indiginous peoples, the Liburnians (a tribe of Illyrians) were known as great sailors and merchants and hence Zadarabecame an important trading centre with Greeks and Romans. The architecture of Zadar is the major drawcard. The Roman ruins (including a Forum founded by Augustus) and numerous churches populate Zadar.  Gothic, Pre-Romanesque, Romanesque & Croatian  are all to be seen whilst walking around the citys square within the Roman/Medieval walls that encompass this old peninsula.

Zadar saw its fair share of invasion and wars and bears witness to the various cultures that have occupied it over the centuries. But today, it is a wonderful place to walk around, drink in the Summer atmoshpere and enjoy its beautiful green parks along the promenade by the sea.

One of the most interesting things to experience in Zadar is its Sea Organ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_organ) which plays music from th erise & fall of the sea within tubes located underneath large sets of marble steps!!. The waves create a wonderful random but melodius set of harmonic sounds!
