Even Better the Second Time Around
From Greece in Mykonos, Greece on Jun 20 '07
Mykonos the second time around is even better. I visited several years ago and stayed with three friends from University. It was great, relaxing, charming and of course hot. This time it was even more charming sharing it with three girls rather than three stinky boys. ;)
Our room was right near 'Little Venice' and a short walk to the bus station. We caught a bus to Paradise Beach the second day mostly just to see what the fuss was all about. Although I already had been I told the girls it was worth seeing. 'E!" has done shows on this beach because it's known for it's party atmosphere, and well thriving gay community. If you are a women traveling alone, GO TO MYKONOS. Females have never been safer than in Mykonos. In Europe it a quite trendy place to holiday and it becomes quite crowded during high season.
If You See Me In The Club
One thing tha maked this island so great is that is really does have spectacular beaches. Unfortunately we were only able to visit the trendy and crowded Paradise Beach which felt just like all the others. I would have enjoyed a more serene atmosphere as would have the girls but oh well. We made the most of it and checked it off our list.
Being that it was our last night on the islands, we decided to hit the clubs one last time. The past 2 weeks we've aquired inside jokes, repetative sayings, slang, and even dance moves that we will carry with us for months, I am sure. As we began our ritual of 'getting ready' one last time, we began to write down all of our sayings. NONE of these would be funny to you, the reader, so I will say you the time. But to Hilary, Des, and Traci, as you read this, get your hand up and shout: "If you see me in the club"....C'mon you know you want to.
The nightlife in Mykonos is slightly tamer than Ios, thankfully and we were able to find a club, mostly with gay men (also a plus) and spent the next 6 hours dancing the night away. We had origianlly thought Ios would be Hilary's Island but as fate would have it, Mykonos won her over and Traci and I had the BEST time watching Hilary 'bring it'.
Ladies: "I'm from Holland..." Get your hands up!
After some real chaos in Mykonos the sun once again came up and it was time to catch our ferry back to Athens for the last leg of our trip. I am so behind in this journaling thing that my etry for Mykonos will end here. Besides, I am really only writing this for me. No one else. I know a few of you will read it, but it's quicker than writing in a journal and I'll have it forever on the internet.
Ciao
