Atlantic City is probably second to Los Vegas with large casinos.  Donald Trump has his Casinos as well as the other large organizations.

The famous wooden boardwalk is very interesting and stretches along the water on side and Casinos, shops, restaurants, etc. on the other.  It is very colourful and interesting.

Economically, it is my understanding that Atlantic City does not do as well as Los Vegas in that many customers come in for the day (from New York and Philly) and return in the evening.  Vegas, on the other hand, have more 3 and 4 day junkets.  The result is that room rent, restaurant revenue, shopping revenue, etc. is not as great as it is in Vegas.  Nevertheless, the casinos seemed packed and place was very alive.

In summary, it is somewhere between Laughlin and Los Vegas.
