The Leaning Tower of Pisa

We stopped off in Pisa for a few hours on our way to Florence, mainly to see the famous Leaning Tower.
After leaving our backpacks in the train station lockers, we purchased discounted tickets on the hop on hop off bus - cheaper because we were only going to make one stop, at the Leaning Tower. This worked out well though, because we still got to see the rest of Pisa from the bus. It is actually quite an interesting town with a lot of historical sights.
The first thing we did was take some touristy photos of ourselves pretending to hold up the tower!

When I first saw the Leaning Tower as the bus rounded the corner, I was amazed. I have seen so many photos of the tower, but in real life it is so much better. It was a lot 'cleaner looking' than I remembered, probably because it is currently being restored, and the angle of the lean really is significant.
The first thing we did was take some touristy photos of ourselves pretending to hold up the tower. We felt stupid, but seriously EVERYONE was doing it, so we thought 'why not?'! Richard even took a photo of all the people standing with their hands in the air, it was pretty funny.

There is a cathedral and baptistry in the same square as the tower, so we visited these. We didn't go up the Leaning Tower though, just looked at it from the ground. I didn't actually realise they still let people climb up to the top, but they do let people up a few at a time.
After our quick visit to Pisa, we hopped back on the train and continued to Florence!
