Kayaking the Abel Tasman
From Daisy's RTW in Abel Tasman National Park, New Zealand on Apr 11 '07
After feeling quite achey from our expedition up the Glacier, we headed up the west coast to Greymouth. The only reason for stopping there is the Monteiths Brewery tour, because they brew the best beer in the world (well I think so anyway!). After a few samples, we then headed on up to Nelson, ready for a day in the Abel tasman National Park. We set off early up to the last town before the park and organised our day. The water taxi dropped us off at the start of a walk, and we spent the morning walking through some amazing National park until lunchtime. We then met our Kayak Guide, Ali, and spent a fantastic afternoon kayaking back down the coast to our van. ali provided the essentials (Chocolate cake) and was a wicked guy! A night in Nelson followed, and we hit a local bar, recommended by our guide, and I tried my first New Zealand Lamb in NZ, yum!!
