As it was STILL raining we decided for a day inside and visited the Goonhilly Earth Station. This is the biggest satellite station in the world and includes the dish (Arthur) that tracked the original Telstar satellite, which broadcasted the first TV pictures from the US to the UK. Its not a great day out, but has some interesting exhibits and is good for a rainy day.
Goonhilly is on a peninsula that includes the most southerly point in the UK, Lizard Point. We walked from Lizard (the town) to Kynance Cove and it was very windy but, thankfully, not raining. The terrain is pretty rough and not ideally suited to our double pram… but the views are spectacular. Kynance Cove is very pretty and very rugged with an amazing turquoise sea. It was overcast when we visited, but the pictures of it in summer are even better.

We had Cornish pasties and a cream tea and scones in the café before taking the ‘easy’ route home. Although flatter the paths were tiny and we had to carry the pram a lot of the way, and a cow thought it would mock ‘charge’ us as we went through its field ;-)
After Lizard we visited Cadgwith, which according to Lonely Planet is the quintessential Cornish fishing village. We paid for 2 hours of parking and left in about 10 minutes – nothing there too see at all!
Dave.
