These mini barges were so cool! They just chugged up and down the canal, not sure how/if they turned around tho...

Got off the plane to beautiful +15C weather! Took the transfer bus to the terminal then wandered around while deciding what  to do for my monstrous ten hour layover before taking off to Thailand.  I thought Calgary had a decent aiport but Heathrow is a city unto itself! Though not nearly as nice or clean as Calgary's.  I took the tube from terminal 4 to tarminals 1,2,3 and had to wait for the next connect tube to show up, which will be in 23 mins.  I'm heading into Paddington to take a walk and strech up a bit before hunkering down for the eleven hour flight that awaits me.  My travel agent Jen (god bless her!) booked me on an aisle seat for the Cal- London leg then sat me at the window for the next part which is perfect cause that flight will be during some daylight and I might actually get to see something out the window.  Time is getting tight and I should go grab a snack before hopping another train.  The currency exchange is horrible!  I'm not buying anything here that I can't get anywhere else.  Took the tube to Paddington station, where I got off and just started walking... and stumbled across a place called Little Venice totally by accident.  Its like Venice in the sense that there canals,  bu only one.  Some people have little barges that they rent or live in, th e whole thing was really quaint and relaxing...a welcome break from the coldness and rudeness of the people in Heathrow.  Get this, I actually saw someone laughing!  It wasn't until I got back to the airport that I picked up a paper and lo and behold there was an article about how rude Londoners and Brits in general had become.  From what I saw the paper  had a valid point.

Heathrow is a city unto itself!
