I took a bus for 6 hours from Saigon to Phnom Penh.  My seatmate was an American living in Bangkok.  He was the ultimate ex-pat having lived in Europe then SE Asia for the last 12 years.  Nice enough guy but he proved that sometimes it's just better to let them do it.  A guy working with the bus said he would handle the visas for $24.  The price if you do it yourself is $20.  We were on the bus and rolling and he was not on the bus.  We ended up stopping just over the border at a noodle joint.  I hooked up with a Cambodian guy who helped me order.  And this begins my bitch session about Cambodia.  There are dishes in which they just chop up bones and all.  And you are supposed to eat them.  It just does not work for me.  When we got to PP I had a reservation.  The room was moldy and ceiling was all of 6 ft tall and  No window.  I went out to eat and remember taking some money out of my wallet and leaving the wallet.  Well the next morning I could not find the wallet.  $100 and the damn credit card gone.  No responsibility with the hotel.  I called Kurt in a panic.  He Western Unioned some cash.  I got back to the hotel and caught the next bus out of town.  Six hours later I was in Siem Reap the gateway to Angkor Wat.
