Antigua and Volcanoes

Caught boat to Pana and then a shuttle bus to Antigua (once Jamie and Paul and managed to get their hungover selves out of bed).  Went to Jungle Party Hostel and then wandered round town.  Antigua's a pretty nice place, seems very clean and quite touristy.  Watched some football in Reds and played some pool.  Went to Mono Loco (Crazy Monkey) in the evening for Ladies night.

Wandered round town with Orla and Christine, taking photos.  Relaxed in the afternoon and didn't go out as we had to be up to climb Volcano Pacaya the next day at 6 with a group of Irish lads and 2 other English lads who were also staying at the hostel.  Chilled out and had a few beers at the hostel.

Nice early start.  The Irish lads all looked knackered after going out the night before.  The walk up the volcano wasn't really that hard.  The first bit was the worse and it only took about 1 hour to get to the top (well, the highest bit we were allowed to climb).  We weren't allowed all the way up the volcano as a couple of weeks before there had been an eruption and part of the volcano side had slide down.  Got to see lava though.  Threw stuff into the lava to watch it burn.  Quality!

Went out for drinks in the evening as the girls were off the next day.  Another Ladies night (Cuba Libres for Q3 or 20p in English).  Pretty good night except that Orla got glass in her foot and Rob had to repair her.

Spent the next day wandering around and finding out how to get back to San Pedro.  The boys booked their ticket to Nicaragua.  Early night tonight as Jamie and Paul leave at 4am and I leave at 6.
