We decided to leave Georgetown and head for the beaches.  Ended up staying in Penang's main beach resort Batu Ferringhi after an abortive attempt to move to a quieter location at Teluk Bahang which we found to be a bit of a dump.  Batu Ferringhi is a holiday resort with a collection of 4 star resorts, typical Holiday Inn type places and a series of guest houses which we plumped for. The beach was nothing special but there were plenty of beach bars to choose from and water sports activity, being a mostly muslim country nobody bears themselves on the beach, its quite funny to see whole families funny dressed sitting on the beach the kids playing in the surf but nobody really swimming.  Consequently the men like their toys so there were jet skis, quad bikes, banana boats and parascending which we had a go at!!  Looks a lot more scary than it actually is.

We spent 3 days on the beach not doing much which was nice after Thailand being so hectic.
